MEET THE
FOUNDER
Chanel Elidianna
The vision of Chanel Elidianina Edward, Designer and sole founder of Compliment me dates back as far as 1993 when sophistication was only a seven letter word in the dictionary, only seven year old and already a keen interest in entrepreneurism, and smart dress. This entrepreneurial flair started at age seven, when Chanel rounded up a team of four friends her age, offered a small salary, and sold flowers picked from her mothers back garden, wrapped it up in gift wrapping paper, and sold it to the public on a busy high road in West London.
As her interest in people and fashion increased, at age 16 Chanel later became a weekend supervisor for a well established German designer brand, Mondi, in both Selfridges and Harvey Nichole's London department stores, This lead onto a senior position at Jean Muir.
In 2009 Chanel-Elidianna co-founded Creative Well Being a lifestyle brand offering a range of Luxury well-being services for the ordinary person. As time played on through this joint business venture she realised that women were dissatisfied with themselves, and often found it easier to promoted negative aspects of themselves. Chanel Elidianna Edward also found it difficult to accept compliments, and embodied with her a very strong motto, that anything good was simply too good to be true. This lead to Chanel's inability to accept positive compliments being said about herself. Seeing that her reluctant nature to accept compliments were shared with hundreds of women, Chanel sort to change that. Coupled with her experience gained in fashion Chanel-Elidianna identified a direct link between confidence and how women dress. After 15 months of research, attending fashion courses on dress making and reviewing case studies on low-confidence and low self-esteem, Chanel-Elidianna showcased an exclusive limited addition of her collection for the Jamaica 50th celebrations taking herself and her girls away from their comfort zones and onto the big stage. Determined to show that being a mother is never an excuse and always the motivation Chanel-Eliduanna organised the whole show whilst six months pregnant with her second child. The fashion show ‘ Free like a humming bird’ was held at Jamaica house at the close of the 2012 olympics at the O2 in Greenwich. The event was picked up by the BBC and other media houses.
Her collection has already been seen by celebrities who are keen on her dresses in their wardrobe; names include Tatyana Ali who on her visit to London has seen 12 pieces that she loves. Tatyana has also shown a keen interest in the ethos surrounding the brand, as Compliment Me is about encouraging women to shine and be proud of who they are. Chanel is a firm believer in the fact that a compliment can essentially uplift a person’s mood and make them more appreciative towards not only life but also of themselves. It does something magical with ones confidence levels. In the summer 2014 Chanel-Elidianna made it her business to say ‘Thank you’ and launched through her fashion brand the Compliment Me Awards - Her mission to give as many as possible the opportunity to say ‘Thank You’ by giving these people the compliment they deserve because they will never do so themselves.
